Civil Defense

In the Civil Defense game, students must solve problems related to waste management and deforestation to help prevent flooding. As a reward, players earn tree seedlings. Correctly planting the seedlings makes trees grow, and the player is rewarded when this happens. The game teaches concepts about proper waste disposal and protecting nature against deforestation.

The CSV Civil Defense game is part of the Clubinho Salva Vidas (CSV – Little Lifesavers Club), created by Edu and his friends to help prevent accidents and care for nature. The club invites players to become true agents of good.

Game Features

Mechanics
To access the game’s start screen, players must first choose an avatar. It is a single-player game. On the start screen, the player selects a level. The first time playing, all levels are locked. After selecting a level, a screen appears with instructions for the proposed challenge.

Before starting, read the instructions on how to play, then press “Play” to begin.

The game has two main objectives:

  1. Remove trash from the river and place it into dumpsters. When a dumpster is full, the player must call the truck to collect it and receive an empty one.

  2. Identify when someone is cutting down a tree and take them to the police station.

To perform the actions, simply click on the trash and drag it to the dumpster. For the person cutting trees, click and drag them to the police station. By performing these actions correctly, students earn tree seedlings to plant in the indicated spots.

Each time trash is left uncollected or a tree is successfully cut down, the game records an error at the top of the screen. If the player reaches the maximum number of errors, they lose the level and must try again.

Opportunities for Educators

With the CSV Civil Defense game, students become agents of good and must solve problems of river pollution and illegal tree cutting. Beyond working on social awareness and environmental preservation, students develop motor coordination and concentration. This game is an excellent opportunity to address these topics in the classroom, as it portrays everyday situations. Everyone can become an agent of nature preservation.

To play, students must:

  • Identify trash in the river and take it to the dumpster.

  • Identify tree cutters and take them to the police station, as they may be committing an environmental crime.

  • Take the seedlings to the indicated spots to plant new trees.

  • Observe how students identify problems and solutions within the game and whether they understand the importance of each action.

  • Encourage classroom discussion about flood prevention, proper waste disposal, and the importance of environmental preservation, connecting the game content to the students’ local reality.

  • Propose complementary activities, such as researching the consequences of river pollution or the impact of deforestation on nature.

  • Use the game as a starting point for environmental awareness projects in the school or community.

  • Even though it is a single-player game, create opportunities for students to share their strategies and discuss the best ways to solve the challenges.
